1971-1972
The 1971-1972 academic year was significant to the Woodstown Theatre Department because it marked the formation of the Woodstown High School Drama Club. This was a separate group from the junior and senior class plays. This Drama Club was described as putting on a “variety of productions.” These productions, though currently unidentified, were likely small one-acts or monologues for the purpose of theatre education and practice. In the 1980s, the long-standing Junior and Senior class plays would be phased out and the Drama Club would lead the theatre department.

1975-1976
The 1975-1976 academic year was significant to the Theatre Department because despite receiving no coverage in the Woodchips Yearbook of the Drama Club or Junior-Senior Play, a time capsule from the year 1976 was created and a program from the Junior-Senior Play was included. When the time-capsule was opened, the program was in perfect condition, and is currently available for viewing in a glass case in the Woodstown High School Library. This is an example of why it is critical for future yearbooks to include coverage of the Theatre Department in every issue. Throughout the 1970s coverage of the Theatre Department was minimal or non-existent — suggesting no show was done that year. But, the inclusion of the program in the time capsule proves plays were likely produced by the Junior-Senior classes and no or little record of them exists.

1978-1979
The 1978-1979 academic year was significant to the Woodstown Theatre Department because it was directed and advised by Mrs. Barbara K. Ohmott, an English instructor at Woodstown High School who went on to become the well-remembered and beloved principal at Mary S. Shoemaker School from 1986-1998. She served for 32 years in the Woodstown-Pilesgrove Regional School district. Mrs. Ohmott directed the drama program until 1983.
